I believe that we have lost confidence in our brothers and kin in pursuing the values and the knowledge that, we are all related. At a period, far removed from our memory, we knew that we depended upon each other to survive. The overlay of skin tone, language, and religious dogma has become the new 'Procrustian bed' of our separation.

Hi Lew
My daughter recently quoted to me an article she had read online that said one day, in the distance future, intermarriages between the races would result in only one skin color for the human race.
Perhaps we should do as ancient peoples did? Marry eligible people to those of our enemies in an effort to maintain peace.
Although, I say that in jest, I can now understand the logic behind that practice.

Hi Dawn.As far as I understand the following rules are to be applied to achieve world peace:
1. Nonviolence - No one has the right to kill anyone else. Groups of people have no more right to kill than individuals have. Governments have no right to kill anyone.
2. No Aggression - Lives and land are sacred. Nations have no right to invade another, kill the people or take their land.
3. Defense - A nation that has a non-repressive government has a right to defend itself from an invasion or revolution.
4. Guilt - The nation that initiates or supports an invasion, revolution or terrorism is the guilty party.

Hi Mohamed
1) I agree 100%! Nonviolence all the way!
2) Again, I agree.
3) If no. 1 and no. 2 were in effect, no. 3 would not be required.
4) I can't argue with no. 4 (or any other point you've made)
How do we get these rules into effect? What a wonderful world we would live in then.........

"...we should vaporize the human race and let nature start all over again!"...would be my, not so optimistic answer.
But I guess it is realistic!
The measures for world peace are there!
Just read the declaration of human rights and live according to it!
...simply...no one does!
And as long as people believe that some (I could actually stop at "as long as people BELIEVE...")mystic power (i.e God or else) is leading their live instead of themselves and that their particular god is better than anybody elses god...we are screwed.
By the way: yes- I do think that religion is "evil"!
But so is greed and hate.
There are too many "reasons" to look down at others, put them down.
May it be another culture, another believe or just your neighbor.
We have past the point of no return in so many ways.
Our "need" for power and the missguided urge for "better" things and a "better" way of live (whatever that means), have made us what we are: the first, one and only species in the history of the known universe, that is capable of destroying itself completely.
And hey...we are on a good way to achieve that!

Hi Nils. It's great to hear from you. I hope you are doing well.
Thank you for bringing up the Declaration of Human Rights. I looked it up to read and have decided to post it as a sticky topic which I hope some members will take the time to read.
As you know Nils, I am a Christian. Some might take exception to my saying that, especially after what I'm about too say.
I agree wholeheartedly with you that "religion" is evil. Religions, supposedly based on love, exclude anyone and everyone who does not belong. How is that universal love? I do believe there is a God. I do believe he loves us ALL and I believe he fully expects us to LOVE ONE ANOTHER.
Organized religions, in order to survive, have taught their membership that only they are the "chosen ones" for the sole purpose of furthering their cause - not God's . God doesn't judge us by what group we associate ourselves with, we are a stand alone package in His eyes. It's what we do as an individual that grants us God's favour.
I'm not saying that organized religion does not have it's purpose, I believe it does, but I am saying that they have all - Christianity, Islam and Judaism - lost their way from God's word by claiming to be more important than anyone else on this earth. To find the truth in my words, all you have to do is remember the wars that have been fought in the name of "religion". It's ludicrous to use God's love as an excuse to kill your fellow man.
You may well be correct Nils, we are quite possibly at the "point of no return" and we may soon obliterate ourselves. No big loss if you ask me except for the fact that God gave us life and it is up to Him, not us, to take it away.
As for starting again with nature having it's way, things couldn't be any worse than they are now with God's creation. We already live like it's a "jungle out there" and with the mind set of "survival of the fittest "
